Job Description:
- Definition: The Pastoral Council Ministry assists the Pastor in defining needs, establishing priorities and developing a vision for future direction of the Parish Community.
- Duties: The Pastoral Council stewards, as leadership ministers, work collectively with all parish organizations in growing the Parish heart values of stewardship, evangelization, baptismal ministry and community; work with the Pastor, the pastoral staff and all other Parish organizations toward unity in its mission, which is church; and, work with the Pastor and the pastoral staff in discerning the Parish’s future direction.
- Length of Commitment: Pastoral Council Ministry stewards typically serve for 3 years and are selected by the Pastor and/or discernment process, based on list of interested candidates.
- Time Required: The Pastoral Council Ministry typically meets once a month for 1-2 hours and, as needed, to assist the Pastor.
- Qualifications: In order to carry out the Pastoral Council’s mission, a steward would be an effective communicator, skilled in discernment, forward thinking, visionary, consensus builder, wide/deep understanding of ministries, available, accessible, reflector, synthesizer, time, respectful of all people/roles and prayerful. Completed Called to Protect requirements.
