Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus is an International organization of Catholic men dedicated to supporting and assisting the clergy in carrying out the mission of the Catholic Church. The group stresses family life, the sanctity of life, and service to others, as well as supporting many social and spiritual activities. The Knights provide many services to the parish, including scholarships to deserving parish youth, Sunday morning coffee, pancake breakfasts, Lenten friday night fish fries, blood donation drives, basketball free throw contests, a tootsie roll drive to collect funds to support the mentally challenged, and an annual Law and Order dinner, where local Police, Fire and Safety personnel are honored. The Knights of Columbus Council #10050, at Blessed Sacrament, have over 100 parish members. The Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly # 2524, also located at Blessed Sacrament, have over 75 members who are members of Blessed Sacrament, St. Patricks, Joan of Arc and Our Lady of Joy parishes.
Pictured to the Left: Parish 4th Degree Assembly #2524 members participated in the Memorial Day 2006 blessing of the Knight's gift to the parish - a soldier with angel on its shoulder statue located in the church's south lobby. Shown in K of C regalia, are members who served in WWII, Korea and the Vietnam Wars as members of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corp and U.S. Army. Take a few minutes to write down the names of those you remember both past and present, who have served in our country's armed forces, to honor them.
